I’m a Black woman from TN. Same experience. I knew at 10 that I’d never have children. I never did l and I have no regrets. The key is I HAD to leave TN. I ended up getting a great education, making lots of money and living all over the country. I’m now 50 and retired. I’m a multimillionaire and I now live all over the world. It’s only possible bc 1) I left the South and 2) I never had kids. A beautiful life can be built but you have to question every script. Keep climbing sweet girl! 🫶🏾❤️

I went back and forth in my late teens early 20’s because it was what you were supposed to do. I came from a single parent home, dad left the country when I was 2 to avoid child support. Then my grandma did my genealogy. I was the next gen to have twins on BOTH sides of my family. Hearing that was an immediate no, which I was already leaning that direction. By 26 I asked for tubes to be removed and the doctors kept telling me no. After being on BC for 21 years, found a GP and OB that agreed, it’s my body and my decision. The tubes were removed when I was 36 and I do not regret it. I’ll be 43 this year and have been a widow for 21 months.

I think its also important to plan that if you meet someone, you do NOT change your mind. Sometimes love can cloud our judgement and the pain of those choices don’t always show up immediately 💜

I am 37f and married to 50m for 13 years (together for 20). We are child free by choice and I am grateful that pages like this exist now. I wish they had existed when I was 18. That being said I am a Mental Health Therapist for kids. I love my job so much... I am also grateful it's a regular reminder of why I had my fallopian tubes removed last year.
