Totally agree. I’ve been in a relationship where I literally asked “do you have the capacity?” She said “Yes, of course”. 3 days later, she flipped and said I don’t have the capacity this is too much. I immediately knew then, the relationship was over

I wished I had known this before because I’ve stayed in my now complicated relationship due to waiting for my partner to propose to me and he hasn’t made the move now I don’t even want the marriage…

I’ve been dating a girl for about four months and we really like each other, but she’s from another country and may have to leave the U.S. in about a year. She wants to stay, but there’s a lot of uncertainty around whether that will actually happen. I’m torn between continuing to date her and enjoying the time we have, or ending things before I get even more attached to someone who might have to leave. What would you do?

As a math teacher, I have always said that I can teach skill (extrinsic), but I cannot teach will (intrinsic)!!!

So if they don’t want to do the consistent small things over time means that it’s a will issue?

Thank you so much for explaining the difference between will and skill and how to apply that concept when deciding whether to end a relationship. It helped me understand whether a person genuinely wants to do something because it comes naturally to them, or whether they don’t do it because they simply aren’t interested. That perspective is helping me make a decision about whether I want to end a relationship that I’ve been struggling to decide whether I should stay in or leave.

I had to end a relationship because we agreed to bridge the gap to the ldr we had. we agreed. and he decided to get a job in another state. broke up with him when he told me about the new job. I know that's harsh but he was unwilling to meet a need for me. no effort and expecting me to accept it is wild.
