I’m sorry, but THIS WAS ACTUALLY IN QUESTION?! What in the actual HELL is this MADNESS going on right now?! I am absolutely, thoroughly BAFFLED! I paused the video and physically placed my hands over my eyes, what the actual hell!

I’m cis but being autistic has kept me from enjoying a normal girlhood and womanhood, I actually admire trans women who can wear dresses without being itchy like I do. I know trans people can be autistic as well but I’m saying in general, they do have a more whimsical way of being a woman and I respect that ❤️

+beauty is subjective. if they view one form of womanhood more beautiful than another that is there own opinion

I genuinely want to learn so this just an honest question; since not all women view their womanhood though rape why was that be the view to focus on? I would not say that I could more beautifully experience something like blackness because I have not personally dealt with that racism pointed at me, I guess because I assume that the oppression is to be seen as something forced on people to deal with and then reclaim their identity in the space they are able to find for themselves. Patriarchal society pushes that only women can be raped so why is that not trauma that is considered, trans women/womanhood are beautiful, cis women/womanhood are beautiful but cis women are given a strict space to grow up in that trans women do not directly have to deal(different rules for amab) with most times.

I always thought that statement was a declaration of admiration for Transgender women with the Trans people's various interpretations of womanhood and femininity, which I find quite lovely.

I cannot understand how this is even a conversation, yes someone who’s had to think about this topic for YEARS in depth might have a different and often more complex perspective then someone who’s never had to think about it in the same way, and is that what makes good art, it’s complex and multi layered understandings

genuinely terrified of how we’re regressing. there were so many terfs in her comments and people who were just so unwilling to hear what she was actually saying 😵💫 could it have been worded better? honestly, yeah, but i feel like a lot of people were being purposefully obtuse

I can understand folks not liking how it was worded, cause after finding the original clip I got what was really being said but wasn’t fond of the wording myself. The thing is though… there’s truth it. Much like a lot of other afabs we grew up being told being woman means working all the time to pick up the slack of men, birthing children, cooking, cleaning etc etc… it felt more like I was being groomed to be someone’s future housemaid that would occasionally spread her legs for her husband than all else. Society shoved down the throats of many that womanhood is tied to suffering, delicacy, vulnerability…

I understand what she was trying to say but something about it struck me the wrong way. To me it felt dismissive of women's rightful fears. Also I don't think that we view ourselves through a lens of rape. I welcome trans voices to the sisterhood and I know their experience of womanhood will be different from our own.

And if I said cis women associating womanhood with connotations of suffering and pain (aka "the more of it I have, the more my womanhood is acknowledged and validated") LITERALLY leads to them losing their lives? It's the reason so many of them insist on unsafe pregnancies (because "numbing the pain is making it easier and it's not supposed to be easy if I'm to be considered a true mother that suffered to deliver this child"). It's the reason they stay in abusive relationships that result in femicides (because "a woman truly devoted to her partner will endure the hard times because that's what proves her love, that's what makes her a good woman and a worthy wife".)
YES, womanhood is familiarity with suffering but it shouldn't be defined by it like that.

Also sorry to all the cishet women but to me a trans woman (and trans ppl in general) is always going to have a deeper understanding of her gender because cis ppl usually go through life without questioning a single thing about themselves while trans women have been questioning their gender their entire life.

As an allistic cis woman I’ve been put off by the views of womanhood from fellow cis women. (Especially when those views are bioessentialist—that sort of thing seemed weirdly limiting to me as a kid)

Thank you!! im so glad some people are spelling it out, because this topic always makes me feel insane. I just cannot be ok with people saying like the main pillars of womanhood are just pain and suffering, idk how you move through the world like that. fucking sucks.

I as a cis women always view women hood as a coin. one side is nurture, love, care, life giving, home, protection and leading. the other side is straight death, no more negotiations, no more talking just death. I don't view rape as part of women hood infact I reject it however it's a sad reality that all wemon Cis and trans wemon have to deal with.
