Why is limerence like this? 🥥 Limerence doesn’t just fall out of a coconut tree. Prolonged, frequent limerence tends to be a result of attachment wounding in your earlier years. ↓ You see, when our emotional need to feel chosen & seen was left unmet in childhood, we search for it in adulthood. So when someone comes along who triggers those core unmet needs, instead of seeing it as a red flag, our wounded inner child sees it as an opportunity to finally attain what we’ve been craving: to be chosen in the midst of unpredictability. A core part of us fixates on this. 🧠The subconscious narrative goes like this: “If this uncertain/unattainable person finally chooses me, sees me, loves me - I finally have proof that I am worthy of it, and my inner child finally feels seen/chosen.” The flip side is that oftentimes, as soon as the connection becomes certain & attainable - the limerence disappears, the yearning goes away. —Why? Because we haven’t actually addressed that core wound, and it will keep placing itself onto uncertain relationships until we do. There are other layers to limerence, but this is a core component. Note: To some extent a bit of limerence, infatuation, is okay at the start of a connection. A crush, if you will. However in a healthy connection, the context should shift from limerence to trust-building. Note: not a diagnosis or a substitute for professional support. There can be other explanations too. #limerence #attachment #innerchild #cptsd #obsession #healing #childhood #anxiety #holistic
