Because we already studied this question—and there is no evidence that separating MMR makes vaccination safer. The combined MMR vaccine has decades of safety and effectiveness data behind it. Separating the vaccines would mean more injections and/or more visits, longer periods when children are left susceptible to preventable infections, and potentially more missed doses. And this is why the Executive Order is so concerning. A President recommending a specific change to how childhood vaccines should be manufactured or administered—without new evidence demonstrating that the change improves safety—is not how medical standards should be established. This isn’t about whether you personally support vaccines. It’s about how we decide what is safe and effective medicine. Those decisions should come from transparent scientific review, clinical evidence, safety monitoring, and experts evaluating the data—not political preference. Because once we normalize changing medical recommendations without evidence, where does that leave scientific rigor the next time? Parents deserve better than chaos around childhood vaccines.
