Airline wives deal with this as well. Spouse was gone 25 days out of 30. It’s brutal to tackle family life at times.

My husband is a firefighter in Jenks. I am a SAHM, and he works as much overtime as he can, and he’s currently apart of a Cadre for a new fire academy, and he’s on the union board! Always gone, and I’m not going to lie, it gets lonely sometimes… but we’re so proud of him and LUCKY to have him bust his ass for us! Fire wife life isn’t for the weak, but we are glad to be apart of it. 🤍

Fire life is not for the weak! I take pride in knowing this is his calling and purpose in life. 20 years with FDNY this year! We are definitely strong at home holding it down.

It’s not for the faint of heart. Shift life and natural disasters change it but connection can definitely be kept. Hubby and son different shifts.

I’m a fire / paramedic sister! My brother is retiring after the 1st of the year after 36 years! It’s been hard on everyone. Love getting to watch him in Action. He is our Hero. Prayers to you and your family!! It’s not for the weak! 🚒❤️🚒❤️

Tulsa is 24 on and 48 off. Lots of mommies and daddies travel for work and are gone for a while.

I love this! I am a Fire wife. My husband is the chief of a volunteer department here in Oklahoma. I would really rather have the shifts then the "unknown shifts" I think.

I'm not a Fire Wife, but I was a Fire Kid! My dad was a Battalion Cheif, so Lots of holidays spent at the station. Him showing up to games with his whole crew! I remember a Mothers Day that a tornado came thru. He checked on my mom, me and my sister and he was off to help the community! It's a tough up bringing, but extremely rewarding! He'll always be my hero!

I’ve been a fire wife for 30 years. We have 4 kids and it was rough with little kids. I wouldn’t trade it for the world. I did fire prevention so I could be involved and spend more time with him. I am so proud of the job he does and I’m proud to be a fire wife.
