The US only has six time zones. Eastern, Central , Mountain and Pacific. Then there is Alaska Standard and Hawaii - Aleutian Standard.

Apparently USA has 10 time zones, but most of us only care about the 6 from NYC to Hawaii. As for huge countries, mainland China has only one time zone. France has 12.

Time zones have to do with the sun coming up and going down. We also have Daylight savings time for that.

There is in fact 9! (If you count Guam, America Samoa and Puerto Rico!) my brain can’t comprehend it either man. It’s crazy to think how big it is it takes DAYS to drive from one side to other. I don’t think most people realize other countries are the same size as one of our states. 😳

Mainly we follow 3, West coast is pacific time, Midwest is central time and the east coast is eastern standard time. So I’m in the Midwest so for me, east coast is 1 hour ahead of me and the west coast is 2 hours behind me.
