I did play a drow once and drow are notoriously racist. I did communicate with the group and make sure the party was okay with my doing that though. And we all made it through with no real feelings hurt. And my character's attempt at a slur towards one of the dwarf players, calling him a filthy digger, turned into the two dwarf players adopting it and using it amongst each other as "mah digga".

I had a tendency to play Drow and had a fellow player make some nicknames that were in regards to their skin tone that the DM shut him down, said that language wasn't allowed. Years later I was playing a gnome and got everyone's permission to call everyone above dwarf height "long legs" cause of my previous experience as a Drow

you can have fantasy racism and not be a dick about it. I understand it's the lore, I respect that, but when it's the entire personality of the character I start to wonder if it's actually a separate character or just a projection character 🤷

I have some racism in my campaigns, because their is those that are going to be superstitious around tieflings and so on but session zero I set the expectation that if there is anything that make people uncomfortable there is no judgements for asking to skip the part. session zero I also have folks fill out a questionnaire of if there are red light topics (absolutely not) or yellow light topics (as long as it potentially is relevant to the story and isn't constantly occurring) as a DM I want everyone to have fun.
