It’s crazy cuz our whole lives we’ve been told to put ourselves in other peoples shoes. But you can only theoretically infer what it feels like to live their experience. i think that expectation of empathy and attempting to make your partner feel seen is a thing as a byproduct from the mind games and unspoken communication that you are expected to engage with in heterosexual relationships. you’re presenting this as if clear communication and immediate emotional intelligence is a common baseline. your spouse actually tells you what they feel, like count on both hands your partner told you they’re depressed and now of that tell your partner idk why your depressed but i don’t like how you’re acting towards me, idk how to deal with this, i feel pressured. see how that blows over. cute advice tho
