Can you do the night shift version because so many people don’t understand those late morning & afternoon hours are our night time aka sleep time

8pm til 8am night shift, but never actually get out at 8am and have about a 25 mins drive home. I run off about 4 hours sleep as I have a 14 month old 🥲

zero time. I work night shift. I get off and go back to work in the same day. I literally have 8 hrs in between shifts to eat, shower, clean sleep, get dressed and then drive back to work.

A 12 is usually 0700-1930 in all the hospitals near me, because they make you take a 30 minute lunch (that you don’t really take). You give report between 1900-1930, so you don’t even leave till 1940-1945. You’re getting home at 2030 and in bed at closer to 2130-2200.

Then it takes 2 full days to recover, especially if you’re night shift. Your first “night off” is just spent in pure exhaustion. And your first night back, you (or at least I) spend the entire day in pre-shift anxiety and can’t sleep or focus on anything.

That’s assuming you leave at 7pm . But handoff starts at 7 so probably won’t get out before 730

And then there’s the poor residents who are there like 12-16 hours/day, have call, and are usually working 5-11 shifts in a row depending on when they get a comp day.
