Make sure the backpack is big enough for her snow gear + lunch bag! My son’s kinder class didn’t let him leave his snow stuff and we drove him to school so often he had to get all his stuff in his bag at some point or else he was carrying a lot either to school in the am or home at night. Ideally it fits everything so you don’t have to worry!

Im a nanny, heres my faves: washable insulated lunch box and backpack. Lunch-Bentgo bento box rocks (costco has good prices). Thermos brand metal water bottles are good. Pants(pull-up, elastic waist), shoes and clothes that she can put on mostly by herself . Indoor (non-marking) and outdoor shoes. Practice opening lunch container at home :)) enjoy!!!

I get the containers with a snap lid and removable compartments (so you can have various sizes inside depending on what you make). If she is going into kindie, you will need at least two because they do two lunch breaks, and this makes it easier for her to know her morning meal vs afternoon meal. (Once they hit grade 1, I went down to one container as they know how to save for later. Make sure any lunch bag you buy can fit the containers. For the past two years, I’ve bought a backpack/lunch bag/pencil case as a set from Amazon. The bags are lined and a good size plus the price is usually better than buying everything separately. Also buy thin ice packs that you can put in her lunch bag. We are currently using Stanley quick flip water bottles. (Have tried various ones over the years, and I am VERY happy with Stanley. She will need a pair of indoor shoes (runners) that will be left at school. Large Ziplock bags are a must…you will have to send in a change of clothing for kindie that they will keep at school. And labels…Mabel’s Labels are great…you will have to label everything!

Also spend the money on a backpack. We bought cheap winners and Indigo backpacks because they were cute and legit went through 3 in one year because they’re so rough on them (dragging them etc). Our Herschel is on year 2 and hanging in strong!

As an educator in kindergarten I would recommend 2 pairs of Velcro shoes (indoor & outdoor), backpack, a bento box or a lunch box (that they can open themselves & one big enough for library books & papers to go home in ) and a water bottle!

Lunch box, reusable containers, water bottle, thermos for warm food. Indoor shoes. Backpack (big enough to hold everything) That’ll be good for the first few days, teacher will give you a list if anything else is needed. Have your daughter practice opening all the lunch containers.

You need a backpack (skip character themed, they get over it so fast), lunch box, atleast three bento boxes that fit inside said lunch box!! (Very important) a thermos (for hot food) and a ride or die water bottle (again skip characters). Label everything!! You may also need indoor shoes and kindergarten always wants a ziplock with a full change of clothes. For supplies you really only need a cute pencil case and a notebook. Maybe a fresh pack of crayons, pencil crayons, and pencils but at our school they gave that to the kids the first week so dependent on your school. For lunch’s pack what you know she loves and can eat quickly to get her adjusted easier, they really only get 20 mins to eat and that can be a huge adjustment so don’t overwhelm her with large meals. I find sandwich or wraps with side fruits/veg and snacks is easy cause they can pick little things here and there at recess, lunch etc, but we also do hot food like pasta, soups, stews, chicken strips and tater tots as a special Friday lunch etc
