@kordfireprotection: Breaker OFF… so why is the neutral still throwing sparks? ⚡👀 Electricians, don’t read the comments first. Watch the full clip and tell us what you think is happening here. 👇 OP: @Jeyelectrician #Electrician #ElectricalWork #ElectricalSafety #Kord #KordElectric

If you don’t understand that there’s load still on this circuit, you shouldn’t be touching it. That white wire hurts a lot more than the black wires

ok... uhm if that's an emergency light ballast... it has an internal battery

Shared Neutral. That neutral will kill you quicker than the hot leg. It carries the entire load of all legs. At least the balance of all the loads. It will grab and hold on.

I litterly got hit with one of these and had to argue with my Forman over it. dude apparently had killed somebody in the past like that. "ghost voltage" shared neutral on high voltage lighting.

I once turned off all the breakers in a house cause I couldn't find where the power was coming from on an external light. Turns out a wire was running from the NEIGHBORS house, underground, and up through the wall. I was so confused

Yep. Shared neutral. Somewhere down the line, a light is freaking out.

shared neutral on a live circuit. the other guy was wrong a battery backup isnt going to feed into a AC circuit. it would have already fried or whatever.

Multi wire branch circuit on the wrong breaker. Likely one neutral for 3 circuits, 3 pole breaker needed.

Looks like low voltage. Probably a bit of stored power in the lines. I got surprised by some low voltage on some neutrals for lights after the breaker was shut off. Tracer didn't light up for high but did for low voltage. Also if it's an emergency circuit it could have a battery.

Shared. Always expect this. Neutrals hurt

Probably part of a multi wire branch circuit, this is why any circuits that share a neutral should be handle tied so it shuts them all off together

Shared neutral!!!! Used to be able to do this back in the day. Saved so much wire.
