@meghannmcuniff: The second psychiatric nurse practitioner who saw Lindsay Clancy in the weeks before she killed her three young children testified today that she did not display symptoms of the psychosis she now says caused her to kill her children. Rebecca Jollotta saw Clancy three times and did not see her again after she went to McLean Hospital psychiatric ward for 4 1/2 days in December 2022. "During all of your interactions with Lindsay Clancy, did she always present with clear, linear thinking?" asked Shanan Buckingham, an assistant district attorney in Plymouth County, Massachusetts. "Yes," Jollotta answered. "Was she able to express to you her concerns and ask appropriate questions when necessary?" Buckingham asked. "Yes," Jollotta answered. "And was she able to advocate for herself and express that she had some knowledge base about some of these medications?" Buckingham asked. "Yes," Jollotta answered. "And at no point during the time that you she was your patient or that she was at the clinic did she ever indicate that she was had a plan to kill herself or harm her children. Did she?" Buckingham asked. "No," Jollotta answered. "Thank you. Nothing further," Buckingham said. The trial continues on Wednesday (August 12, day 12) in Plymouth County Superior Court in Massachusetts. This case has me thinking we need a “Lindsay Law”—not to punish patients, but to build better safety nets. If someone is experiencing severe depression/anxiety, possible psychosis, extreme sleep disruption or increasingly erratic behavior, we shouldn’t rely solely on that person to accurately report symptoms, medications & changes to every provider. Especially when providers are already concerned about their mental state. PCPs, psychiatrists, OBs & prescribers need to communicate and look at the WHOLE patient. One fragmented system shouldn’t leave a severely ill person responsible for coordinating their own care.

I’ve seen multiple comments from people saying they hope the jury sees all of the conspiracy TikToks, which is honestly pretty scary. Our justice system is far from perfect, but the jury process is designed to be as fair and impartial as possible. Why would anyone want outside influence shaping a jury’s decision? That would be incredibly concerning in any trial.

She was a nurse. She was trained in what would trigger immediate assistance. She also knew about the medications, side effects, time it took for meds to become effective, not to drink while taking meds, and what she would meed to say for help.

The most egregious thing these doctors did was let her dictate her own treatment plan, not stick w medications for long enough for them to be effective etc…

She dictated her own treatment, didn’t go along with the treatment plan. And then the providers were forced to do the shared decision making model. And this is what you get.
