Someone in my due date group posted about infant loss. I clicked to see her other posts and they were all about plans for an unassisted free birth, reducing medical support during the pregnancy, etc. 😬

the road to prenatal care was paved with the headstones of mothers and infants who wished they would have had the care we do now.

I have a theory that she does actually see a dr and this whole thing is just rage bait. I think she knows her real due date and I think she might know it’s a boy bc she does see a dr and then she’s gonna be like “Ha. Told ya. Moms know everything.” Or at least that’s my hope. I’m so nervous for her and her baby 😅

this might be pretty specific to the country/southern community, but I think all the time Joey Feek would still be alive if she got prenatal care. She didn't do a single check up, and three months after birth cervical cancer that killed her was found. imagine if it was found a year before at a pregnancy check up. I just snap out of feeling bad not too long after because medical care is good when you need cancer cured but bad when your baby's life might be on the line and your pride is more important.

To be honest, depending on the state she’s in, she might be worried that if she goes to a hospital now, CPS will get involved. In the state I’m in, purposeful lack of prenatal care is an automatic CPS consult.i hope everything works out for her and hope for the best.

I was planning a MD-attended home birth, and when I found out it was twins at my 8 week appointment, I decided on a c-section and I don’t regret it at all! Making the choice that is safest and most comfortable for your baby/ins and yourself is SO CHIC!

All I can think about is things like placenta previa - I would’ve died trying to birth my baby if I didn’t know I had that because of ultrasounds🙃 “trust your body” when bodies do VERY untrustworthy things all the time ?

She can do what she wants. It’s the influencing others to do something this irresponsible and dangerous that gets me. I hope she and her baby are okay.

It may be her body her choice but it'll be her consequences too. She went 41 weeks without ever hearing the babies heart beat. She cant guarantee that baby has no genetic or congenital issues. Also it can be difficult to get a doctor late in pregnancy. I moved from one state to another but had to stay at my in laws I'm a different state a for a month before we could get into our place. Even though I had documentation of consistent medical care that month and a half really made it hard to get a doctor. I had to go to L&D with low fetal movement before I got a doctor willing to take me on.

I visit old cemeteries as a hobby. Prenatal care matters. Many women’s tombstones have the day they died, next to them their 1 and sometimes 2 just list that same day. Many died during childbirth. Walk an old cemetery.

I work on Labor and delivery and we had a tragic case of a woman who was 41 weeks along (had felt movement a week ago) and we couldn’t find a heart beat. Cord wrapped around baby’s neck😞 we had another woman who was 40 weeks and came in due to not feeling movement. She had a placental abruption and didn’t know and lost the baby 😭 why is this worth the risk to some moms?

I knew her in real life like 10 years ago and she was a completely different girl and NOTHING like she is now. I was shook when I saw her on my fyp. We weren’t close or anything. Just were coworkers but are still friends on Facebook so I’ve been lowkey waiting how this plays out….

There’s a reason people use midwives if they choose a home birth, people are taking it too far. I used a TRAINED midwife with my second after a hard hospital birth, still had all my labs, urine tests, and an anatomy scan. Use a midwife for care and birthing in a hospital for my third because I had some extra bleeding. My midwife had me get genetic testing and everything this pregnancy before birth so we were as prepared as possible. Home birth and midwives do not normally mean no medical care 🫠
