Sometimes the best getaways are basically sitting in your own backyard. 🤍 Brandon and I spent part of Labor Day weekend at Log Still Distillery and I genuinely cannot believe this is only about an hour from Louisville. We checked into the cutest cottage overlooking their 12 acre lake and immediately knew we were going to love it. Full kitchen, wraparound porch, sleeps six and the best part…once we arrived, we really didn’t have to get back in the car. We walked over to the Tasting Room before the concert for drinks and light bites, and you guys…the cocktails were SO good. The staff was amazing, the atmosphere was so fun and then we headed down to The Amp to see Justin Moore. He was absolutely fantastic and I LOVE how intimate this venue feels. And possibly the biggest perk of staying on property? When the concert was over, we walked right back to our cottage. No traffic. No driving. 👏🏼 The next morning we walked next door to The Homestead for breakfast, which was included with our stay, and then headed over for a distillery tour. Now, you know I’m not exactly a bourbon girl 😂 but I tried it…and actually enjoyed it! What I loved even more was learning the history behind Log Still, the family, the land and how much preserving that history means to them. That part made me appreciate the entire property even more. By the time we left, Brandon and I were already talking about coming back. A cottage on the lake, breakfast at The Homestead, cocktails, live music at The Amp and a distillery tour the next morning…all ONE HOUR from Louisville?! This is exactly why I want to start exploring more of the places that are practically in our own backyard. We wanted to see how a seasoned guitarist would approach an official Sheet Happens Tab Book in action. So, we challenged our friend Joseph Anidjar to learn a section from Plini’s Impulse Voices—a passage that may sound straightforward at first, but hides plenty of intricate technical details beneath the surface. And Joseph quickly found that out firsthand. Luckily, with the Official Guitar Tab Book—edited and approved by Plini himself—Joseph had everything he needed to tackle the challenge. Putting our books to the test in the real world was an exciting experience, but our favourite part? Watching Joseph’s creative gears start turning as he realized he could weave some of these newly learned techniques into his own riff writing. What music would you like to see Joseph conquer next?
