Having a period is a normal bodily function, but since literally elementary school me and all the other girls were told not to talk about it with anyone but our mom, our doctor, and maybe the nurse if you forgot a pad. And bc it was rooted in me since I was 9 years old that it shouldn’t be talking about and we werent told the usual emotional reactions while on it, I thought it was normal to want to die on your period. It was up until recently when me and my friends were talking about it bc we’ve stopped caring about what others think, that I realized most people are slightly moody on their periods or find them annoying, but they still dont want to die and have actual fucking panic attacks bc of them being on their period. And the entire time I was wanting to die bc of my period I knew what suicide was but thought “oh, we get mood swings. Im sure everyone else has insane suicidal urges that last through their period”. Bc we werent taught anything about emotional responses to it. And Ive been having really bad gender dysphoria since I was 9 and thought it was normal. At what point of lack of education does it get to a point that a child thinks their suicidal thoughts and urges were completely normal bc they’re a woman?

as a girl it gives me the ick when i feel it contracting but i don’t find periods in general gross if that makes sense like its just bc it feels weird when u can feel ur uterus 😭 but i don’t think we should be ashamed of that

My P.E. teacher made me do 10 push-ups and made fun of period and used sarcasm abt it bc I told him I couldn't do P.E. today (keep this in mind: I'm 13, he's pushing 40's)

when I was a teen I got fed up with pretend it didn't exist so I started announcing when I was on my period and my symptoms so my step dad and brother were forced to face it. normalize it.❤️

in my school, they teach us to wash DISPOSABLE sanitary pads, hide our periods because its embarrassing and do not mention anything about pregnancy, periods and every girls go through.
