@innerworldtherapy: What Most People Get WRONG about 12 Year Olds: Tricky Behaviors Explained by Child Development. 12 is an exciting time! Most children are starting middle school and they have entered a new psychosocial stage of development. They are beginning to leave behind the days of perfectionism and standing out and instead want to blend in and fit in with their peers. They may seem to change their behavior and style a lot, which is important to figure out who they are! Though their mood may seem unpredictable to adults, it’s just because they share everything with their peers now. Follow as we continue to talk about preteens and teens development! #childdevelopment #childpsychology #mindfulparenting #sixthgrade #7thgrade

how do parents cope with all the changes ? Literally feels like you’re grieving. You had a sweet child and then out of nowhere they became monstrous. I wasn’t ready / prepared lol

My 12 year old daughter acts more like a toddler then her toddler sibling. I don’t know how to deal with it at all.

What about adhd 12 yr olds behaviors? 🥺 My child behaves more like a 9 or 10 yr old versus a actual preteen

Are you going to do the teen years too? I have a 13 year old girl and would love to hear the breakdown on this age! Your 11-12 videos I watched are super accurate!

What’s the best way on waking them up at an appropriate time during summer break. My almost 12 year old doesn’t want to wake up before 2 pm 😭

have there been any studies about how the pandemic and closures affected the equilibrium/disequilibrium stages in children?

hi! as a teacher, which could be a "script" for an empathetic response to when they break rules repeatedly? I really care for them and I want them to feel safe being themselves in my class

But do I have to tell them “why?” A no is a no. The question was asked and answered. I don’t need to negotiate. If I do, I get 45 minutes of her trying to get me to change my mind.

My daughter will be 12 in October. She started puberty/period at 10. So we're a bit a head of the game here. Right now shes been going through it emotionally/mentally. It's really hard to deal with sometimes. She also doesn't want to wake up until noon, even though I wake her up at 10am 😑

My 12 yo daughter doesn’t socialize well, shes yearning for friendship but won’t initiate conversation or opportunities to hang out. She is currently the youngest player on a new JV team and she feels left out but doesn’t know how or what to say to try and be included. Any tips?

Identity vs role confusion has been so rough for my youngest. His brother knows EXACTLY what his thing is (theater) and spends all his time chasing that hobby/dream, and my youngest feels like he should know exactly what his ‘thing’ is too despite my assurances to the contrary.

As a psychologist myself, I have some thoughts about transgender identity in kids, but I’m finding myself curious about your take? Or what you know about the research. I don’t work with kids but I have a 12yr old,and so many or her friends are exploring this part of their identity

Can you go into the effects of trauma at this age? I’ve been told that 11/12/13 is the time when a traumatic experience will negatively affect a child the most.
