Think some people are taking it too literal with the "going to the opera" or "philharmonic". He's saying go look at some acting and inspirations through whatever resources (movies, Shows, games, Broadway, ect) you can and learn from them to help better yourself when pursuing the field

Also, maybe I suffer from Gen X 'ism, but when he says "As much as YOU CAN", I assume that includes having the time or the means. And you can probably GOOGLE poems.
