@meraparenti: Some student loans are a massive challenge financially and mentally. But I want to also be a voice to say that having loans doesn’t mean you can’t be crushing it with your net worth! And you certainly don’t have to wait for the investing stage until you’ve paid it all off (if you have the right rates) #StudentLoans #studentdebt #loans #gradstudent #medstudent
Curious how you’re thinking about the tradeoff here. What are your student loan interest rates, and how are you deciding that investing while making minimum payments is the better move?

I do the opposite and I am down to $50k from $205k in less than 2 yrs. I used to wake up in a cold sweat. I don't understand how people can just pay the minimum and not freak out daily.

I pay the minimum but that’s because I get 25k/year from the state for my loans and I’m on PSLF as well as a backup. Down from 230k to 119k in 5 years of paying. My plan is for PSLF to take care of it in 5 more years if my loan assistance ends.

Wait are you saying we should only pay the minimums? Does paying it off fully have a negative?

I hope your minimum payment is more than the interest accrued on that loan and you are expecting loan forgiveness sometime in the future
