@jonathansbuild: Just wanted to share a bit about my home server! I'm running over 20 Docker containers, mostly on vanilla Debian. Some of the main ways I use it are: * Streaming media to family and friends * Asking my assistant to handle various tasks * Monitoring app rollouts to the App Store * Maintaining an offline Wikipedia backup * Hosting my e-book library locally It's a pretty versatile setup for various needs. What do you do with your server? #HomeServer #Homelab #SelfHosting #Tech
immich is a must have imo. Also recently added paperless-ngx and its pretty good

I mean yeah, if the only goal was streaming movies, dropping a few grand would be ridiculous lol. But that’s kinda missing the point of a homelab. It’s learning, self-hosting, networking, automation, backups, DNS, monitoring, experimenting with Docker/Linux, etc. The media server is just one of the things I use it for. Plus most of this stuff can be built from old or cheap hardware. You definitely don’t need to spend thousands to have a useful homelab buddy... My security cameras, network wide ad blocking, side loading.. gotta use the internet to your advantage.

I utilized an old foldable AMD laptop. I run Debian on it with Home Assistant in VM with zigbee, my tf2 server and jellyfin for some of my favourite shows and movies. Very limited because I can’t afford too much😭
