@thesameerproject: We have let down the weary mother in North Gaza. The child who cannot take another step. The amputee who struggles along the uneven road. The elder who needs hours to get to his destination. The person already exhausted by displacement who just needs a little help getting to a doctor’s appointment. Those trying to reach a market in a central area to find what the family needs. The person trying to visit loved ones they have been torn apart from by repeated displacement. For so long, The Sameer Project’s free transportation program gave people something that has become incredibly difficult to access in Gaza: freedom of movement. And now, because donations have fallen so drastically, we have had to shut down our transportation initiative - we have to tell all these individuals no. We have to tell more than 1,800 passengers every day that we can no longer help them get where they need to go. These were never “just free rides.” They were connections to healthcare, food, family, opportunity, and a small measure of independence in a place where nearly every aspect of movement has been restricted or made unbearably difficult. We are devastated that we have reached this point. Please help us restart our buses. Donate to the General Fund to assist.
