Travel without kids: heaven. I’ll read a book, maybe play Minecraft a couple hours. Travel with kids: a time dilation event. A 4 hour flight feels like 24 hours. Keeping kids contained in a seat and at reasonable volume is a near Sisyphean task.

In grad school I volunteered for a medical study where I had to stay alone in a room with no windows for 5 days in a row. The room had no clock and my only human contact was requesting food over an intercom. But there was a computer with Civ III on it and y’all I was fine.

Another civ 5 supremacist. I think thats pretty cool. 16 hours is definitely too little though. I strive for 26 just so I can be done and forget I even started playing and will then live a day behind the rest of the week.

I will be honest. I am very nervous about the idea of the long international flight. I also have to keep civ v uninstalled because I have played it 12+ hours a day for weeks at a time. this is such a good idea. make the travel a treat into itself
