Instead of the widowmaker cord, i suggest to get the proper connectors, otherwise it's really dangerous. If you can get them, i also recommend, the eu plugs, imo they are superior to anything. You should wire them, so that only the female sides can have voltage

One issue may have is your 50 amp plug is a 230 volt circuit, while your generator 30 amp is a 120 volt circuit

you said single phase. so 3 pins makes sense. line, neutral, ground. 4 pin would be for 240/120

Never make a suicide cord. Always use the proper male generator inlet. You might be able to replace the generator’s outlet for the right one
