I know so many people who are on sandy soil that have done this, it self drains and costs pennies compared to having one professionally installed. Unfortunately I’m on stone and clay so it’s not to be on my yard 😭I’m not jealous i promise 🤥

This is not feasible in a lot of places… most places… just because you have a diy mindset doesn’t mean that the climate and ground will support this

Thanks for this content!!! This is what I’m here for. And to everyone with the “this won’t work where I’m from” comments - you’re missing the valuable info. The maintenance is the most important part and as long as you get the necessities right (work with what you have), you can make a decent ring on a budget. And tell me why I never thought of dragging my ring with a 4wheeler 😅😅😅

Man you’re genius. How do you deal with drainage/wet spots? How does it hold up after a rain? And did you have to deal with rocks? Asking for future reference 😅

The only thing I would add is swales around the edges and maybe test adding textiles to improve in the future! You’re definitely lucky to be in a place this is possible. We are all red clay and rocks near me! Maintenance is key ANY arena and most people who have issues don’t do enough of it.

How did you keep the grass from growing back in a week. I did the same thing and literally I couldn’t keep up with the grass wanting to grow back immediately

We tried to do this with our round pen and hit a bunch of rocks with no easy way of cleaning them all up. Anyone have an idea to maybe help fix that or easier clean up so I have motivation to try again 😅😅

This is awesome! The soil/ground underneath looks really nice. What area do you live in that the natural ground is so sandy and nice?

If it rains will it get muddy though and dry really hard? (Like if you went on vacation or smth and couldn’t drag it) and also would grass and other plants grow through it like crazy?
