Volleyball IQ is built through action, not hesitation. 🧠🏐 Another topic we explored today was reading tips and developing true volleyball awareness. Every defender wants to become better at reading the game, but reading isn’t a talent—it’s a skill developed through thousands of repetitions. You have to recognize the hitter, understand the situation, notice the body language, and predict what is most likely to happen next. I shared a story from another sport that has always stayed with me. An Olympic high jumper once explained that her coach gave her one simple rule: every time you approach the bar, you jump. It doesn’t matter if your steps weren’t perfect or if the approach felt off. You jump anyway. Why? Because that’s how you develop rhythm, confidence, and trust in your body. The same principle applies in volleyball. If you think the hitter might tip the ball, go. Dive. Commit. Even if you guessed wrong. Even if you don’t reach it. Every committed attempt teaches your brain what to recognize the next time. But if you stop yourself halfway because you’re unsure, you rob yourself of that learning opportunity. Volleyball IQ isn’t built by standing and watching the ball hit the floor. It’s built by making decisions, committing to them, and learning from every single repetition. Don’t be afraid to be wrong. Be afraid of never giving yourself the chance to get better. . . . #volleyballtime #volleyballdrills #volleyballgame
