Sierra Leone Under U.S. Scrutiny: Deportee Deal, Human-Rights and the National Unity Agreement | BAV Sierra Leone is facing serious scrutiny in Washington after U.S. Senator Jeanne Shaheen alleged that the government violated commitments under a U.S.-funded arrangement to receive third-country nationals deported from the United States. The controversy centres on reports that some deportees may have been returned to countries where they could face persecution or punishment.
