Grape happens in the real world both in the time that berserk is set and in modern day, but the key difference between the two is that no people were hurt or even “pretend” hurt by anything in Berserk. Western media is full of books and live action adaptations that glorifies grape and forces actors to recreate both the criminal and victims actions and feelings. As with most ppl that hate on berserk because of the adult content and SA you might have a bias towards Asian storytelling and its fans. We do have some gross people or pervs within our ranks, but some of us just like the ideas of fighting against your “fate” and striving to protect and defend your “found family” among other things.
