I couldn't hear, couldn't see from vision going black, couldn't think, could only scream, had zero control over my physical reactions, and once they got some drugs in me and I could think a little, I rated it "probably an 8? I didn't pass out completely 🤷♀️"

Don’t forget chronic pain patients have a totally different pain scale. Your 9 would be our 5 or 6 baseline.

I’m dying 😂 as a nurse I always ask “on a scale from 0-10, 0 is no pain and 10 is someone just cut off your leg without anesthesia, what would you rate your pain?” 😅 coming in hot with the hypothetical

I compare everything to childbirth..natural birth that is..so I tore through the cartilage in my knee and I kept telling them the pain was 5-6…and when my specialist got the mri back he kept asking me why I kept telling him my pain was only a 5-6 lol..I told him compared to childbirth it is.🤷🏻♀️

How is it that women are referred to as illogical? If it’s a universal scale, it should be about the universal experience. How is the doctor in the ER going to know that stubbing your toe is the worst pain you’ve ever experienced?

why do they think like this? wouldn't it be illogical to measure pain individually because it's subjective? it only makes sense if it's measured in the scale of humanity so we know where to put it

Thought labor was a 10 until I had and encapsulated hernia… so now labor is an 8 the encapsulation a 9 and 10 is where I cannot communicate the pain, dunno what happened or what hurts, but if I can no longer process thought to tell you it’s a 10, then it’s a 10… my everyday pain is like a 2 and a “bad” day is a 3-4… I think broken bones and surgeries etc are like a 5 lol

I’m a (female) nurse. My son broke his arm. In the emergency department he was asked to rate his pain. He said a 6. The doc said “Really? Not a 10?” He said, “No because my mom told me 10’s are for when a bear rips your arm off.”

RN here, literally all men used to say "I'm a 12!" it was infuriating. women never went over an 8. y'all, 10 means you are actually passing out from pain.

I've told a doctor before that I can't ever say I'm at a 10 because that level of pain would cause me to black out.

I’ve had a baby, a miscarriage, a C-section, and pulmonary embolism. I think the highest I’ve rated any pain I’ve had has been a 7 or 8 because I’m sure it could be worse.
