the performance was soooo beautiful, my only issue is her animation. the way her mouth moves just makes it seem less realistic and interactive. like the rest of sneznhograd looks busy and active. however, the animation for her performance feels lackluster. as a choir soprano, it's common knowledge to drop the jaw and enunciate each consonant. her mouth is thin and does not match the song.

Russian speakers can't understand Vodyanitsa's singing... This is the reason why. FWhen you sing opera you pronounce words differently to fill the room with sound without a use of a mic. Vowels are sung with a dropped jaw and raised soft palate for a rich and dark sound. However, this means that the singer has to modify vowel sounds (eg. 'A' becomes a 'O' to keep the throat open) to prevent the voice from breaking or sounding too bright. And for consonants, R's are rolled, kept short and sharp, and hidden vowels can be placed in-between words to keep the sound consistent. This makes the sound loud and full, while still being healthy for the singer. Unfortunately, this does sacrifice clarity in the words being sung. That's why when she sings Russian you can't understand her, because she sings the words in an operatic vocal style. (ps. I am not a native Russian speaker. This is just my theory as to why no one can understand a word she sings. I don't know if the VA is a Russian speaker, so take what I say with a grain of salt)
