It's the diabolical response to women challenging the conversation, too. Being accused of being transphobic and racist, because Drew isnt a white woman. Such an insane take.

So "gender is a social construct, but trans women are better at performing it"?
I 100% do not identify as a terf. Granted, I'm still learning, but there's a dissonance in this reasoning and stopping any possibility for debate is counterproductive for everyone involved.

This. I was feeling so bad for having a negative reaction to this. It's just a really badly worded opinion that creates comparison where there should be solidarity.

Terfs drag this clip out whenever they want us to ramp up transphobia. I heard it in the same way as the following: I love Scotland, I was born and raised here and do everything I can to learn the history, culture and languages we have here. However, I fall in love with the country more when I see it through the eyes of a person who has chosen to migrate here. They have seen a Scotland I never will and can reveal an appreciation of it that I definitely take for granted. Similarly, transwomen have that same access to viewing womanhood that I absolutely take for granted as a cis woman. Then there is the point of Terfs and pickme’s who perpetuate patriarchy and keep women in the boxes patriarchy forces us into.

I found these comments to be mansplaining and an oversimplification when not fully understanding what they are discussing. They think their helping, so no hate. Of ourse womanhood is not why you're assaulted 💔🤦♀️.

Thanks for being able to articulate what I couldn’t. I don’t think the comment had ill intent but it had ill consequences. Hopefully, we’ve all learnt something, including the original commenter.

i think the SA comment is out of pocket but i disagree with your underlying sentiment. i believe they meant that women in society are reduced to their body’s capabilities, whereas trans women aren’t constrained by the same biological realities. therefore, experience womanhood in a more unique way. terrible wording though

Part of me wonders if they meant femininity. We can't always appreciate being feminine if we want to because we're afraid and have the history of sexual assault. I avoid being feminine in some instances because of that but it doesn't make me any less or more of a woman either way

The thing is womanhood is not the same for everyone and that is okay, but it annoyed me that they couldn’t see that what they said messed up and caused Trans women who weren’t involved harm. My womanhood wouldn’t be the same as everyone else and Trans women will have a very different experience of womanhood. It doesn’t make it better or worse or more or less it’s our own lived experience. I just hate that the Elites will be loving all this. Divide and conquer!

More division why on earth would they want more resentment and division and calling ‘cis women’ absolutely ridiculous using made up language to antagonise is just causing more division we should be sticking together and supporting each other 🤦♀️

From a fellow Scouse queeen… This is such a great point. We’re ALL affected by the patriarchy. Somehow this conversation managed to insult trans women by reducing them to the patriarchal ideal of what a woman should look like or how she should behave, while acting as though trans women don’t also have to worry about sexual violence. And at the same time, it insulted cis women by framing our relationship with womanhood around our fear of being SA’d. 🤦🏻♀️There’s a huge difference between saying biology doesn’t define womanhood and pretending that biological realities haven’t profoundly shaped the lives, oppression and experiences of many cis women. We don’t need to diminish one group of women to validate another. Surely the whole point of feminism is that there isn’t one “correct” or “more beautiful” way to experience being a woman.
