SPOILER ‼️ The 60 minute savory bake that will forever be a highlight of my life. That look from @gordongram is etched in my brain forever 😭 I was incredibly anxious when I learned the semi final challenge was a savory one including protein, as I’m not comfortable with meat and had no “showstopping” ideas for a 60 minute bake. I went in thinking I’d do a galette or tart, but when the clock started, it felt like God was guiding me. I decided to take a massive risk and make enriched bread from scratch, and use Pakistani flavors because what else was gonna make me stand out? I started multitasking like my grandmother used to in the kitchen, and the flavors started coming together. And, with @carlaphall gently nudging me to think about presentation, the “naan pizza” turned into a “naan star bread” as a last minute inspiration. I couldn’t believe what I had made as I was putting it onto the platform at the end of the hour, and I was incredibly nervous for the judging. I wanted to make my mama and my dado proud, and I wanted to do my cuisine justice. As @gordongram @carlaphall @candacenelson gave kind compliments about the look of my bread, I was still holding my breath. “Should we just dive in?”, I remember Gordon asking me. “Yeah”, I said, crossing my fingers. And so they took their first bite. Then they took the second, the third. Looking at each other in awe. Carla looked at Gordon and asked, “you wanna start?”. And I will literally NEVER forget the moment when Gordon looked at me and said, earnestly, “it’s F**KING delicious” 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭 A core memory that you know if a core memory as you’re living it. 🥹 Alhamdulillah for this bake and for everyone who prayed for me!!!!! #NextLevelBaker @nextlevelbaker_fox @foodclubfox
