The tape scene where Cooper watches years of messages from his kids after returning from the water planet is one of the most gut-wrenching moments in the film. McConaughey insisted on doing it in one take without any rehearsal because he wanted the reaction to be completely genuine. He asked Christopher Nolan to film it right away so he could experience the weight of those messages in real time.
