In the world of accounting there are two columns. Assets and Liabilities. A vehicle is a liability because it doesnt have the ability to increase in value. It will always cost you money and you never get that money back. anyone considering a vehicle an investment needs an introduction to finance.

Right, except I bought my $50k car on a 5 year loan at 0.99% interest with $0 down. I could have paid in cash, but instead invested that money for the 5 years and earned a return over that 5 years that far outstripped the 0.99% interest from the loan. Oh, and by the way, cars are NOT investments. Stop thinking of them as such. They are a depreciating asset.

Most Toyota Camry’s are NOT investments; they are a necessity for work and family life. Eventually It’ll depreciate to nothing - and that’s it. …..you want an investment; buy a ‘65 Mustang GT350 in mint condition

Its not an investment. Maybe the failure to understand that is the issue. Keep that car for 10+ years and it's not an issue. If you sell in the 6th year, there is a problem.
