@damivinci: If you’re in Budapest on August 20th, THIS is what you can expect: August 20th is Hungary’s State Foundation Day, also known as St. Stephen’s Day- one of the country’s most important national holidays. The day celebrates the founding of the Hungarian state and honours King Stephen I, Hungary’s first king. Budapest turns into one huge celebration, with programmes, concerts, traditional events and, of course, the famous fireworks over the Danube in the evening 🎆 There was a lot of discussion this year about whether the fireworks would happen at all, because of concerns about the environment, wildlife and the amount of public money spent on the show. But… seems like the fireworks are NOT cancelled after all 🎆 ( they will be just scaled down and cheaper) So if you’re visiting Budapest on August 20th, expect the city to look VERY different that night.
