My opinion is that people have been and are easily influenced (including myself obviously) and it seems like they’re afraid of having their own unique preferences because they don’t want to be seen as “weird” or get bullied. If doing what’s popular makes someone happy then great, I would just argue a lot of people don’t want to feel rejected in a time where being yourself somehow means you’re weird.
