i swear you guys don't READ 😭😭 signora was only nice to the kids of the hoh for attention and praise + punished those who weren't kind to her by not giving them gifts. the hoh in return only play pretend w signora for the gifts. signora is obviously going to be strict w odette because their relationship is not like signora's & the hoh; they are MENTOR AND MENTEE. no mentor is never not strict w their student, but that doesn't mean signora didn't dislike odette. in fact, the fatui believe odette would take signora's place but signora even said herself that odette does not have to follow her steps and that she is free to dance if that is her passion. odette's complicated feelings towards signora is very realistic; when studying under someone, all you can think of is how harsh they were on you but you realize in the end it was necessary because of how much you learned and how proficient you became at it, which then translates into your mentor wanting to see you do your best and even becoming better than them; which is how odette sees signora. i'd argue that while signora did definitely treat the hoh kids slightly better, her and odette's relationship is way better than w the hoh because theirs wasn't forced, play pretend, or bribery
