@middleeasteye: David Hearst, editor in chief of Middle East Eye, says that after nearly three years of watching Israel wage war across Gaza, the West Bank, Lebanon and Iran, Turkey and the Arab world are finally beginning to build an alternative security order. Hearst says the turning point came with the new defence pact between Saudi Arabia, Turkey and Pakistan. He argues that Donald Trump’s failed war on Iran exposed the limits of the US security umbrella and forced Gulf states to confront a reality they had long avoided, that America could no longer reliably protect them or restrain Israel. Hearst says that Israel has repeatedly undermined agreements backed by Washington, from Lebanon to Gaza and Iran. He argues that Netanyahu does not want these wars to end, and that neither Biden nor Trump has been willing or able to enforce their own terms on Israel. For Hearst, the new alliance could eventually strengthen regional negotiators, reduce Israel’s freedom of action and help break what he describes as a century of external domination. He concludes that the real issue is sovereignty, and whether the region’s biggest powers are finally prepared to defend their own land and people together.

I saw this pact as smart .. Turkey is protecting itself against Israel while they strengthen their capabilities .. Saudia Arabia is doing 2 things simultaneously, protecting itself against the UAE-Israel constant threats and Iran threats but I wouldn't be surprised if it's a path to ease up tensions with Iran through Pakistan as Iran is more reliable than the other two... Pakistan benefits economically from the pact and makes India think twice ... India just needs a call from China to back down if things get too hot ... I guess we just have to wait for the US economy to get worse, a change in Congress in November, US leaving the Gulf, and Iran + the 3 way pact to calm things down in the area and protect Palestinians ... Also wonder if the anti-AIPAC sentiment also runs within the intelligence community in the US to help this reorganization happen so they can free their government from the pro Israeli grip.
