@maritimefauna: Earth cannot suddenly lose its gravity because gravity is produced by mass, and Earth has an enormous mass of approximately 5.97 x 10^24 kg. According to general relativity, this mass creates a gravitational field around Earth, and a solar eclipse cannot remove that mass or switch the gravitational field off. An eclipse only happens when the Moon passes between the Sun and Earth, blocking sunlight, while Earth’s mass and gravitational field remain essentially unchanged. The Sun and Moon do have their own gravitational effects on Earth, but their positions cannot cancel Earth’s gravity. Gravity cannot simply be switched off when objects line up.
