@rockhistory_: The epic entrance of Angus Young onto the stage at AC/DC’s Monsters of Rock concert at Donington Park on 17 August 1991 remains one of the most iconic moments in Rock History. In front of more than 72,500 fans, the sound of thunder rolled across the park, Chris Slade kicked in on the hi-hat, and Angus suddenly appeared above the drum kit in his classic schoolboy uniform, fist raised high in salute to the roaring crowd. Without missing a beat he launched into the ferocious opening riffs, igniting one of the most electrifying performances in Rock History. The full show, lasting nearly two hours, was an unrelenting blast of pure energy packed with spectacular visuals. A giant inflatable Angus rose behind the stage, a massive inflatable Rosie appeared later, and Brian Johnson rang the enormous Hells Bell. Angus delivered a legendary striptease during an extended solo while the band poured on the power. Fake dollar bills rained down on the audience at one point, and the night ended with real cannons firing salvos over the multitude. Filmed with 26 cameras, including one in a helicopter, the concert captured AC/DC at their absolute peak and was immortalized on the Live at Donington DVD, sealing its place as one of the band’s most mythical performances.
