i've never had the experience of my mom reading my diary as a kid, but I still never feel so free to write anything too specific or personal on my journal without metaphors or code name

Girl this happened to me when I was 7/8, but it was my aunt. Mom bought me a journal and told me that nobody was allowed to read this, not even her. My aunt was kind of "hands on" on me (iykyk) (parents were working so she was the one taking care of me in our house) and so I wrote all the things she'd done to me. I think she snooped around my things cuz I hid it, and man the next day she was like a demon unleashed after reading it. Also had the audacity to tell my mom about it as if my mom would take her side and scold me. My mom apologized to me (idk what for, but my aunt never did lol). But that truly changed me and my aunt's relationship until today. I couldn't care less about her, sorry not sorry 🤷 Nowadays when I hesitate to write too freely, I just remind myself that no one is watching my back nor would come to my room 🥲

my mom read my diary too when i was a kid lol 😭 i journal personal stuff now tho, it’s the repetition i guess. It was hard at first. When you finally feel comfortable, it’s very liberating. I highly recommend

true, my journal is my safe space. it hurts so much when I knew my family read my journal. that memory made me stop write journal. it takes more than 15 years to write journal again. but I hide the journal that filled with more serious content.

wah i was experience this 😭😭😭😭😭 and he laughed at me “what are you talking abt here? speak to God or something ?” after read my journal. and after that i always make my room tidy and never leave my journal at my desk. so traumatizingggggg . he is my uncle btw 😅😅😅
