The wisteria at Montsalvat is IN BLOOM right now… but this incredible purple canopy only lasts for around 2–3 WEEKS! 💜😍👇🏻 Every spring, the 80+ year-old wisteria beside Montsalvat’s Long Gallery bursts into bloom, cascading over the stone walls and Poolside Terrace… and it might be one of my favourite fleeting spring moments in Melbourne. I grew up in the south of the Netherlands, and there’s something about Montsalvat that takes me straight back home. The old stone buildings, winding paths, gardens and European village feel… then add all that purple wisteria and for a second you forget you’re actually in Eltham 🥹💜 This year you can also pre-book access directly underneath the wisteria canopy, which is normally restricted, giving you the chance to stand amongst the blooms and capture those beautiful photos. Your ticket also includes general Montsalvat entry for the day. And even with kids, I love this as a slower little outing. Wander the artist village, explore the gardens and galleries and find all those tucked-away corners.
