I’m just wondering like you are aware there are Christians in India that use henna for their marriage ceremonies and it’s been done for 1000s of years?

I know SO MANY lovely Christian Tamils/ Indians who still celebrate and wear our cultural / religious adornments as they understand our cultures have mixed and beautifully stayed together in harmony. And if they choose not to wear a bindhi or something I have never seen them pride around and try to warn people about it.

I think as you said Henna spans so many cultures, one being Egyptian culture, Coptic Christian’s in Egypt wear it as part of wedding celebrations - more cultural for them than religious 💕

I’m proud of you for following your convictions. It isn’t easy and some will see it as a dig on the culture even when that isn’t the case. It’s like you said at the end of the day it’s about Jesus and honoring him the best we can!

Baby it DOES have deep religious significance. Look harder and read from the source. Our Hindhu texts note all of this in deep detail. The wording you choose is the problem. “Unfortunately tamil culture is integrated with religion” unfortunately? Are u okay?

How is you following your own personal conviction trigger them so much lol 😂 This is why people say Christians are judgemental but I think it’s them thinking we’re judging when we share our own convictions.

Jhumkas have origins in Hindu temple jewelry and kanchipuram saris were originally woven to adorn our murtis (temple idols). At some point, you will lose most of your culture if you try to avoid everything with Hindu origins. As a Hindu, I really admire how you are trying to navigate your Christian faith while respecting and crediting the Hindu roots. Whatever you choose to wear or not, we welcome you 😊💓

I am African there are many many many things about my culture that God has told me to stop! My grandfather was a member of the men’s organization that all the men in my tribe join. You are not considered a real man if you don’t join it. He had a bag, 2 walking sticks, a drinking cup and so many other customs that they practiced. Men is that group are highly revered and honored in my tribe and my country. Guess what? After he gave his life to Christ he literally had to pay money to leave the group. Before he died he wrote a long letter to us telling us the many things we should no longer practice cuz they seemed normal but were all witchcraft. For example cutting one’s hair when a family member dies, certain traditional dances. He made all his sons sign that no man of his bloodline will ever join that group again forever. I could go on and on but I learned from him that many things we normalize as cultural practices are idol worship and witchcraft! As I grew in Christ God showed me other things that I also stopped doing. I am proud of my culture and my people but Jesus first, Jesus next, Jesus always. I can celebrate my culture without compromising my relationship with Jesus.

Notice how people get defensive when a Christian doesn't want to participate in something connected with a different religion, but if someone that was Hindu didn't want to participate in a Christian practice, that's ok.
