I don’t miss nothing at all there was nothing to miss. I just wish I knew why I had to go through it and why the trauma won’t leave me even though I’m a loving mum now x

I have no contact with my dad. I don’t miss him. He is an awful person. But I do miss the idea of a dad. When I see a good dad the same age as my own… I wish I knew what it was like.

The way you describe things '9 times out of 10 being terrible but occasionally there would be something good' sounds kinda like 'love bombing'. We usually hear about that in romantic relationships, but do you think it can be a thing in familial relationships too?

I think our minds try to protect us when we are living in the trauma we try to rationalise it thinking it’s not really happening to me it’s normal but after you look back into it you now realise it was actual trauma and you did absolutely not deserve to be treated the way you were but how can a child protect themselves against family members it’s horrible children should absolutely be protected by their family not violated 🥺

How do you feel knowing that your abusive family members could see glimpses into your life now through your videos? Do you think about it? Are you happy that they’d see you thrive or does it feel like an invasion of privacy? ❤️

what I've decided the older ive got is there was certain occasions that as a child I was entitled to remember fondly, they took everything away, but my memories of happy moments in my childhood, are mine..
summer holidays and playing with other children, the sheer overwhelming excitement of the Xmas tree going up , the happy child moments of Xmas, which I've had to harvest, and they are mine.🥰

Any time I miss my dad, memories flood in of all the nastiness and I suddenly don’t miss him anymore 😅 I kind of hope that doesn’t go away because I don’t want to let him trick me into allowing him back in again

I get what you mean. It’s horrible knowing that it wasn’t normal, because it makes you think deeper? If you get me😅

Fully agree, when you’re out of it you accept the reality of how awful everything was. Whilst IN it, you’re just surviving it
