Big Red Says This Crossed the Line Okay — remember when I told you the prosecution’s “mortal sin” issue had now come up TWICE? Well… Reddington just moved for a MISTRIAL over it. 😳⚖️ And this sidebar was WILD. Red told the judge this wasn’t some brand-new problem. He said the same issue came up roughly a week ago, the court gave the jury a very strong instruction then, and he made a tactical decision not to ask for a mistrial at that point. But now? It happened AGAIN. Religion. Heaven. Catholicism. Suicide as a mortal sin. And Red basically said: Enough. This is over the top. He argued that bringing it up again amounted to intentional misconduct and asked the court to declare a mistrial. The Commonwealth pushed back and said: We didn’t ask for that testimony. They argued the expert wandered into that reasoning himself while explaining how he evaluated whether Lindsay understood the moral wrongfulness of her actions. And then the judge weighed in. He did not grant the mistrial. BUT— he called this an inappropriate area of inquiry. He said the witness’s personal understanding of Catholic teaching is irrelevant. He said there was no foundation showing this witness had any special expertise in Catholic doctrine. And he said he was going to give the jury a strong instruction to disregard it — because he did NOT want the last thing they heard today to be this witness’s interpretation of Catholic teaching. 👀👀👀 So no mistrial. But also very clearly: The judge was NOT okay with where that testimony went. And now the witness is apparently getting a very direct conversation about what he can and cannot talk about before testimony resumes. THIS is why I kept saying the second “mortal sin” moment mattered. Because now we know: Red thought it was serious enough to ask for the entire trial to be thrown out. CourtTok — was the judge right to cure it with an instruction, or should the mistrial have been granted? #LindsayClancy #LindsayClancyTrial #KevinReddington #CourtTok #CourtroomDrama
