I think chickens being omnivores is part of the reason humans farm them. An animal that's not picky is one that's less likely to starve during a famine.

Watched a mouse try to run across the chicken coop once. The chickens killed it and fought over it for 2 minutes. the winner ate it whole. she was fine.

we had a jerk rooster that was beating up the hens so we had to send him to freezer camp. After making a delicious soup, the remains went to the hens he wronged, they devoured him with gusto! 🤣

ya...they also eat baby chicks that pass. I had a rooster who kept unaliving chicks (he got 6 of them before I caught him in the act, he took a dirt nap after that) and I never found any of the bodies. cause the adults ate them

Um chickens are opportunistic eaters, farmers even use them to get rid of pesky bugs sometimes! Heck sometimes chickens eat their own eggs which is a problem to some farmers!

Chickens will make a meal out of anything they can get down their gullet. Bugs, grains, garter snakes that make the mistake of trying to live in their nesting boxes. They’re like catfish that way
