@drsusanofficial: Another dumb thing women are told about menopause: “Testosterone is just for libido.” Yes, testosterone has good evidence for treating hypoactive sexual desire disorder (HSDD), and that remains the indication supported by the strongest clinical evidence. But does that mean testosterone has no potential benefits beyond sexual desire? Not necessarily. We don't yet have the large-scale trials we'd like to see for outcomes such as muscle, bone, cognition, mood, and overall wellbeing. But smaller studies and emerging research are exploring testosterone's potential effects on cognition, anxiety and mood, motivation and drive, muscle health, bone health, and more. There's an important difference between “we don't have enough large-scale evidence yet” and “there is no evidence.” Women's testosterone research is evolving—and we need much more of it. 🎥 This is one of the 10 Dumb Things Women Are Told About Menopause. women's healthcare is so far behind 😔, even the approved treatments for HSDD are rarely talked about and aren't covered for most women. I am thankful I get Vyleesi along with my hrt including testosterone but it took me 6 years of suffering before I found a provider who listened to me.
