@lifegoalinvestments: Here are the 3 reasons I’m taking Social Security at 62. 1. Social Security is becoming insolvent. Without serious action, benefits are projected to be cut roughly 20%. And I don’t have a lot of faith in serious action. 2. The break-even age is later than you think. The math is simple: just add up all the monthly payments. Start at 62 and you get smaller checks for more years. Wait, and you get bigger checks for fewer years. Your break-even age is when the total dollars from waiting finally catches up to the total dollars from starting at 62. And if you invest those early payments, that break-even gets pushed out even further. 3. At 62, you can actually enjoy the money. Travel. Take the damn trip. Do the things you’ve been waiting your entire life to do. At 92, you probably ain’t traveling. Personally, I’ll be taking Social Security as early as possible. Disclosure: This is strictly for education, strictly not to be taken as personal financial advice. Everyone’s situation is different and should dictate when they take social security. #SocialSecurity #RetirementPlanning #Retirement #Investing

I am 50. I already decided around 30 years ago that I wasn't going to bother with Social Security and especially not with the mess in current times

Not a popular opinion but people like Warren Buffet and others with ridiculous net worth should not draw social security. That would help with future social security payments. They need to do something and I think this would cause the least amount of pain.

No extra cash to invest. No 401k, I’m 60 now. Should I still retire at 62?

Social Security will never ever become insolvent. It is completely impossible. The only way that it will ever become insolvent is that if it is eliminated by politicians. By design, it is self solvent for perpetuity.
