As an almost 40 nurse manager at a pediatric psych hospital, your videos have become my newest hyper fixation…walking the trauma informed walk, not just talking the talk has become my winter goal. Thank you.

Ok but I’m legit still stuck on how it got this way. Why is brute incompetence and toxic people skills what granted admission into the current managerial class???

What I like about this is its thinking about what could be possible. It is like the most hoped message I’ve seen in weeks and feels very accessible

I’m happy we’ll be breaking the cycle, but can we get my GenZs to stop low key bullying me because I get so excited about good data?

Nobody crying in their car because of me might be a low bar, but being reminded of bad manager experiences gives me more confidence starting my millennial manager journey.

As a millennial, I've been screaming this for years. Thank you. Also, snort-laughed at the whispered 'look whats happening to my neck' because, same.

I’m 57 ( Gen X) and my corporate daughter is 26 and she is uniquely good at the corporate grind. Way better than I ever was but she has psychological baggage from her childhood like many people and is brilliant and sensitive and she is doing awesomely at work.. easily. Which is pissing off her older bosses no end. And she has taken days off for emotional reasons- the thing people make fun of Gen Z for exactly. And she doesn’t suck up. Ever. She can’t bring herself to do it. And a few weeks ago the seething resentment she feels from her female boss whose job appears to be mostly making male supervisors think they are smart —brought my daughter right to the emotional edge. The consistency of her bosses under the radar rage towards her youth and brilliance and non compliance and 20 something innate hotness plus the loneliness of corporate work really got to her. She’s ok now. But she really wasn’t. You are right. This is not benign. Thanks for your content.

Exactly. Why do people seem to resist improving things for the people that follow? Too much of society seems to be “fuck you, I got mine”.

50 here. I opened my own business so I could do it the way I wanted. I don’t believe a grown ass human should have to get permission to be with their sick child, I believe if we do it right they can work the hours that work best for them and still accomplish everything needed.

This is why everyone loved me when I was a manager and ultimately why I left that role: I worked with boomers who expected grovel and grind nonstop and wouldn’t put my direct reports thru that.
