If I know rich people, they're either driven by greed or bitterness. In this case I'd suspect he's aware of Netflix moving into sports and he's preemptively being ready to be a blocker vote in allowing Netflix to get Premier League coverage. I imagine he cares about the "history" of Liverpool about as much as an Englishman would care about the "history" of the San Francisco 49ers.

owning a piece of liverpool (or any team in the league) gets bezos a seat at the table of the league. prem tv rights are up for renewal shortly and should the league look at a netflix type model bezos now has a seat inside the talks to put amazon forward for these talks that's the reason hes investing nothing more or less

I think this can only be great for Liverpool, you have to take the political side out of it, this is football. Bezos doesn’t need Liverpool to make a profit, so it’s purely marketing for him, it wouldn’t be a stretch to say Amazon potentially sponsor Liverpool and if Liverpool do well and win trophies and sign the biggest players while wearing Amazon or another one of his companies on the front of the shirt, Liverpool grow worldwide therefor making Liverpool even bigger and become a dominant force signing the best players winning the biggest trophies when ultimately that is what football is about.
