Mufti Abu Layth is genuinely one of the most refreshing scholars I've ever listened to. I've learnt so much from him, not just because of his knowledge and the way he explains things, but because he's actually relatable. His humour, which for some reason a certain group of people seem to absolutely hate 😂, is honestly one of the reasons I've been able to learn so much from him. He can take a heavy subject, make you laugh and somehow make the lesson stick.
He doesn't present himself as some untouchable, perfect religious figure. He comes across as a normal human being, on the same journey of life as the rest of us, trying to understand the deen, better himself, make sense of the world and ultimately become a better person. That authenticity and transparency are incredibly rare.
You don't have to agree with every single opinion he has, that's not the point. For me, he's made learning about Islam engaging again and encouraged me to actually think, question, research and understand, rather than simply repeat what I've been told. Absolutely miss his Monday Night Lives and his earlier stuff too, those were some special times 😂. May Allah continue to increase him in knowledge and goodness. ❤️
